Concussion Management

Booragoon JFC follows the AFL Management of Concussion in Australian Football guidelines for dealing with instances of suspected or actual concussion.  Some key documents from the AFL are:

As per the AFL Guidelines and the Junior Club Manual, any player showing the signs or symptoms of concussion should be removed from the field immediately and referred to a medical practitioner.

A concussed player must not return to school, training or playing before having a formal medical clearance.  As per By-Law 23.1.4 “a player who in the opinion of an appropriate medical authority has suffered concussion, should not play the following week“.

A signed medical clearance will be required before the player can train or play again (NO EXCEPTIONS).

Names of all players suspected of concussion are to be advised to registrar@booragoonbulldogs.com.au.
