Murlpirrmarra Connection Cultural Football Carnival

Darren Patten is the CEO of the Murlpirrmarra Connection, and one of our Auskick parents.

The seventh annual Murlpirrmarra Connection Cultural Football Carnival between the Wiluna Martu Eagles and the Dalkeith Nedlands Junior Football Club (Melvista Oval, Nedlands) is taking place in Perth over the long weekend on 29th May – 1st June, 2015, coinciding with Reconciliation Week and WA Day.

The yearly carnival brings together young players from the Wiluna Martu Eagles and the Dalkeith Nedlands Junior Football Club (Dalkeith) in a unique team-building weekend that combines highly skilled football with educational activities and plenty of fun for all.

The annual carnival culminates with the highly-anticipated football match between the two young teams and the presentation of the Murlpirrmarra Perpetual Cup.

Booragoon JFC players feel free to attend after Sunday morning’s BJFC Auskick, you are more than welcome.

Nedlands Junior Football Club is at Melvista Oval, Nedlands. Bounce down is 12PM.

Concussion Management

There have been many reports on concussion in sport lately, and we have had a few potential concussion incidents so far this season.  Concussion is taken seriously at all levels of football – we’ve summarised the approach on our web site, based on AFL and WA Football guidelines.
Basically, if your player has symptoms of concussion, they will be removed from training or playing immediately and referred to a medical practitioner.  A concussed player cannot play the following week, and must have a signed medical clearance before training or playing again.
If you have any questions or need any support please get in touch.

Winners of Pink Sports Day Raffle

Thank you to everyone that supported the Pink Sports weekend. Thanks to the generosity of Booragoon JFC teams and visiting teams at Karoonda Park this weekend, $1300 was raised from the  and will be proudly forwarded on to Breast Cancer Network Australia.  Thanks everyone, fantastic effort!

In particular thank you to those people who jumped in to give me a hand to sell raffle tickets, especially Meagan, Anthony and Dean. Special mention must be also made of Daniel Schmidt and the Turner kids who helped me sell tickets on Sunday. Also to Cath and Alain Latino, and Sally Goldrick who did my BBQ and canteen shifts (lucky me- I was scheduled on twice back to back!), and to Scott Lieschke who did a magnificent job of auctioneering the year 10 match ball, bought by the Velletri family. Thanks to the year 6 team who presented me with my own signed pink match ball, a lovely thought.

Last but not least, thanks to Steve Evans and Thommo who supported the idea of our boys wearing pink socks, and of course the year 10 boys for wearing them!

Having personally been affected by breast cancer, and now having a close alignment with BCNA, I know these funds will be put to good use and will help make a difference to other lives experiencing turbulent times.
